Go to "Quality" in the purple bar at the top and select "eCQM Data."
Filter - Make the following selections using the column on the left-hand side:
Programs: Select "MIPS Group."
To add a quality measure, use the down arrow next to the "x" icon. Please note: You can extract the QRDA-1 file for only one quality measure at a time. Attempting to include multiple quality measures in a single extraction is not allowed.

To generate and download the QRDA I files, click on Download, select QRDA-I and then Export:
The system will show when the QRDA I files are ready:
When ready, click on the Download button:
Repeat the process for each one of remaining quality measures:
- Diabetes: Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Poor Control (CMS122)
- Preventive Care and Screening: Screening for Depression and Follow-up Plan (CMS2)
- Breast Cancer Screening (CMS125)
There are some limitations and requirements to download the QRDA-1 files in Athena. We have listed them below:
- Select the year
- Select a single program and a Single measure. You cannot extract the QRDA-1 file for more than one quality measure at a time.
- Wait for the patient count to load
- No more than 25000 Patients, if the patient count is above 25000 use filters in the “Patient Demographic”.
Once you narrow down the patient volume to less than 25000 by adding the necessary filters, you will be able to export/download the QRDA-1 by clicking the “Download” option on the top right corner.
NOTE 1: If the patient volume is less than 25000, then you are not required to add any “Patient Demographic” filters, you can click the “Download” option on the top right corner to export the QRDA-1 file.
NOTE 2:
Athena support advised that problems on the eCQM data page may be caused by outdated browser settings or cache, which should be refreshed regularly—ideally once a month or after every new release.
